These experts argue that rapid and symmetrical collapses at free fall speed are consistent with a controlled demolition

It is not just Charlie Sheen who thinks the World Trade Center buildings were taken down by controlled demolition, 161 architectural and engineering professionals have banded together promoting http://www.ae911truth.org, a Web site dedicated to getting the facts out about the collapses of the twin towers.

These experts argue that rapid and symmetrical collapses at free fall speed are consistent with a controlled demolition and that it is against the laws of physics that the fire could have melted the titanium steel used in the buildings structure.

“It is quite plausible that explosives were pre-planted in all three buildings and set off after the two plane crashes — which were actually a diversion tactic,” writes Steven Jones a Brigham Young University physics professor.

Documentaries like Loose Change leave no stone unturned when drawing ridiculous conclusions. At one point they make a big deal of a reporter misreporting 7 World Trade Center collapsing and they continued asking the question of how the towers could collapse in just seconds without explosives. The film then ties together endless archived news video of witnesses describing sounds of explosions, as if the description of such a sound means they existed.

The amateur film goes on to criticize standard building insurance policies held by the lease holder and cherry picks facts more than the Bush administration does on the issue of global warming. There are further terribly conducted sequences on standard government drills as if every time the government runs a possible doomsday scenario they have somehow planned such in the future. Halfway through it reminded me of a recent Fox News expose on how Al Gore depletes the ozone layer with CO2 emissions when he travels across country.

Then there are the facts. The towers may have come down in seconds but WTC 2 collapsed 56 minutes after the plane hit, WTC 1 burned for 102 minutes and WTC 7 was on fire for six hours. Then there were the firefighters on the ground who were on the scene and decided the fire in WTC 7 was too out of control to fight. Sure there was advanced knowledge of WTC 7’s collapse because it was the chief’s decision on the ground to pull out all firemen and evacuate, after all they had just lost hundreds in the previous towers hours earlier.

Some of the large explosion like crashes could have also been transformers exploding although the sounds of 110 stories of concrete and steel bellowing down could be explanation enough. According to a FEMA report WTC 7 contained 10 transformers at street level, 12 transformers on the 5th floor, and 2 dry transformers on the 7th floor.

The governments stance has been consistent, the WTC towers collapsed because: “(1) the impact of the planes severed and damaged support columns, dislodged fireproofing insulation coating the steel floor trusses and steel columns, and widely dispersed jet fuel over multiple floors; and (2) the subsequent unusually large, jet fuel-ignited multi-floor fires weakened the then susceptible structural steel. No building in the United States has ever been subjected to the massive structural damage and concurrent multi-floor fires that the towers experienced on Sept. 11, 2001.”

But the problem lies in the government’s lies. Knowing the Bush administration has lied us into a pointless war, it is easy for conspiracy theorists to get carried away. Unfortunately for them when they try to blow every little thing out of proportion and make fabricated and weak connections, the valid questions surrounding 9/11 remain unanswered. The government is still reluctant to share black boxes recovered and confiscated video that may have captured the attack on the pentagon.

Why in the 18 months following the 9/11 attacks did the president prevent any public investigation into the biggest security failure in the history of the United States? Why were we flying out members of the Bin Laden family in the days after the attack? When will we hold this administration accountable for lying us into war? When the president was on a record vacation why did he chose not to respond to an August 6, 2001 memo that read “FBI information … indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks;” that this suspicious activity includes “recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York”?

The real issue is that we won’t have open government until we remove the current administration that has exploited the tragedy of 9/11 worse than that of the Loose Change filmmakers.
