saves

All the emo kids will be waiting but without the huge expectations that once surrounded New Jersey’s Saves the Day. Stay What You Are had trouble doing just such and disappointed many as the follow-up to Through Being Cool. Then 2003 rolled around and everyone started puking on their girlfriends when they heard In Reverie.

Singer Chris Conley and a bunch of dudes who had nothing to do with any of the good records are entering the studio to record the follow-up to 2006’s Sound the Alarm.

By the fall the band will release the second album in their current effort to create a trilogy project, this record titled, Under The Boards.

They’ll be recording in Northern California with Marc Hudson and Eric Stenman.

Anarchy Rules

On Saturday, June 16, 30 masked individuals identified as “anarchists” disrupted the Ejekt Festival in Athens, Greece. The Beastie Boys had the crowd’s attention until the “anarchists” came in wielding tear gas, baseball bats, and iron bars.

The group enjoyed the evening of music by burning cars and damaging property, injuring several people including Underworld’s Rick Smith.

Glowsticks lost in fire

On Monday in Sheffield, England one of the worlds most instrumental clubs in the rise of trance music caught fire and began to fill the skyline of the wanker city with yellow smoke.

Gatecrasher One suffered extreme damage as part of the building eventually collapsed and forced officials to close several streets in the area.

A spokesman mentioned that there was plenty of alcohol to burn but did not mention the severe loss of drugs and glowsticks that could be attributed to the blaze.

used VW sales Skyrocket

Hippiefest 2007 launches in Toronto this summer on July 25 and will eventually blow its way through another 20 cities in the United States. “This festival is for people who weren’t around in the ’60s and ’70s or were and just can’t seem to remember,” says Hippiefest founder Toby Ludwig in a press statement. “Bring your parents, your grandparents and your kids. Come be a Hippie for a day!”

In it’s second year, this summer’s edition will feature acts like the Turtles, Badfinger, Iron Butterfly and the Zombies. With twice as many tour dates as last year you’ll need to get new tires on your VW bus and an expensive trip to your local pharmacist.

Can’t play a real guitar?

For those of you who don’t need Guitar Hero to pretend to be an axe grinder you’ll be happy to know that the U.S. Air Guitar Champion-ships competition is currently making its way through America. The competition, in its fifth year, will judge contestants on technical merit, stage presence and “airness.” You’ll have 60 seconds to wow the panel and your guitar must be invisible.

Last year’s champion will face off against the winners from each city and three winners from the online version of the contest in New York City. Winning America’s portion will get you $1,000 cash and a trip to Oulu, Finland to represent the U.S. in the Air Guitar World Championships.

Spice world 2007

It appears that the chances of the extremely anticipated Spice Girls reunion draws closer and closer. Melanie C (Sporty Spice) recently hinted that she would be available for the reunion of the acclaimed five-piece. Until now, it had appeared that Sporty Spice was the only member holding out.

“I don’t want to be the person that stops it happening or stops it being a five-piece,” she told BBC London 94.9.

Due out later this year is the group’s greatest hits compilation and a six date tour is rumored to be making stops in Las Vegas, London and Tokyo.
